Overview
The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs located on either side of the body, just underneath the rib cage. The main role of the kidneys is to filter out waste products from the blood and to produce urine.
Healthy kidneys filter about a half cup of blood every minute, removing wastes and extra water to make urine.
